Dr. Charles A. “Chuck” Freas received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas in Arlington, with minors in Russian and history. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law with his doctorate in 1988. He practiced law with the federal bankruptcy courts and with the federal district court in Amarillo for 30 years. Since semi-retiring from the practice of law in 2018, Dr. Freas has taught political science at West Texas A&M University and Economics at Ascension Academy. He is married with four children, three of whom are active-duty military or veterans (currently, one is a Commander in the U.S. Navy serving at the Pentagon, one is an Air Force PJ Technical Sergeant serving in Arizona, and the third was a U.S. Army Airborne Sergeant serving in Germany and Kuwait). Dr. Freas taught Cub Scout and Boy Scout adult leaders for six years with the Golden Spread Council, where he earned the Silver Beaver, God and Country, and other awards. He is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the American Numismatic Association, and the Texas Numismatic Association.
